Meet the Doula

Hi, I’m Amber!

I am the doula and childbirth educator behind Cache Valley Birth & Beyond. My passion for supporting mothers and families throughout birth and the postpartum period has led me to serve the community since 2022.

I believe in the body’s innate ability to birth and that we were not meant to go through it alone. It is my goal to support you with the information and tools to feel empowered in birthing on your own terms.

I am also passionate about supporting mothers in the postpartum period. Modern society shows little respect for the tender, sensitive time after birth and I aim to fill the void of the missing ‘village’ with compassionate postpartum care, tending to the mother so she may focus on rest and bonding.

I am the mother to two children—with vastly different birth stories, a wife, a student midwife and a lover of coffee and art.

I bring a vast amount of knowledge about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding to the community and I can’t wait to support you.

FAQs

  • I support births both at the hopsital and out of hospital (home birth/birth center)

  • In order to provide quality support, and as an actively training student midwife, my birth doula support availability is limited. Please reach out ASAP to see if I am available in your due month.

I take 2 postpartum support clients per month.

  • I’m sure you’ve heard, “it takes a village!” A supportive partner or other family member is priceless; however a postpartum doula is trained with specific knowledge of postpartum healing, nutrition, breastfeeding and more. Hiring a postpartum doula allows dad/partner to bond and be with you and the baby because this time is important for them too! As far as other family members, they can be well meaning but ask yourself if you are comfortable with them seeing you in a diaper with your breasts out nursing, and will they be willing to cook, clean, and tend to you? Or are they interested in holding the baby.

  • I made the decision not to certify with a specific CBE program for a few reasons. I wanted to offer a program that would work for a variety of families and birth desires and some people simply don’t resonate with the style of programs that are out there. I believe there are so many tools and coping techniques that are available, I didn’t want to teach one type or sell a ‘brand’. You will leave understanding the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of birth physiology and with confidence in your decision making and ability to birth.

By creating my own course and not certifying with a ‘big name’ I have the ability to offer classes in different formats to accommodate various budgets and schedules.
